We minister to prisoners, drug addicts, and alcoholics. Jesus’ last words were, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matt 28:19 & 20a) Our goal is to help men get free of their addictions and make them disciples of Jesus.
I (Doug) minister in three prisons, preaching services and leading classes. We have opened a discipleship home for parolees who became Christians in jail and need a new environment to start over in. Our program is a 1 year residential program in which the men go through three phases:
Orientation - learning to live without drugs and alcohol and an introduction to the Christian life.
Regeneration - becoming a new person on the inside.
Inner Healing - dealing with hurts from the past.
What a joy it is to witness the changes in a man’s life when he begins to trust in the Lord and put all things in His care, including his family relationships. We have seen many marriages healed after the men get free of their addictions. For us, other than seeing men come to know Jesus, there is nothing more gratifying than to witness families being restored and revived.
I teach classes to the men as well as counsel them one-on-one. We work side by side with them during their job duties, modeling what it is to follow Jesus and live a life free of addictions. In addition to home schooling Paul and Allison, Jenelle helps with the logistical aspects of the ministry.
